Teen Leaders Club teaches and promotes teens to take an active part in their communities, learn about fundraising opportunities, and build leadership and communication skills. It's a fun way to get involved with our YMCA and the community. Last year the Teen Leaders: toured the Downtown YMCA, helped serve lunch at the Samaritan Center, held a bake sale and a bottle & can drive to purchase "COOL" Teen        t-shirts (designed by the Teen Leaders); planned and organized the Teen Nights; had their 1st Overnighter at our YMCA; cleaned up the YMCA grounds on Earth Day, and attended a Teen Rally at Camp Gorham in the Adirondacks. Don't miss out on all the Club has to offer this year! Be a part in planning what "you" want to do! Anyone interested should contact Tess Kenney at 451-256 or attend our next meeting.

Teen Assistant Swim Instructor Program (TOP)

Our new program for teens gives 13-15 year olds the opportunity to gain valuable job training experience while having fun and keeping busy throughout the year by becoming YMCA teen assistant swim instructors.  Teen assistants should have strong swimming skills and a desire to work with children.
Teens will be placed with experienced instructors and learn the ropes of teaching swim lessons, as well as developing positive self esteem and mature social interaction skills.  They will receive help and be evaluated at the end of the session, as part of the learning and improvement process.  Schedules will be flexible upon teen availability.
In future years, as the teens become old enough, they will be ready for employment by the YMCA or other organizations which provide swim lessons.

See Member Services for next session and registration dates.
