Teen Assistant Swim Instructor Program (TOP)
Our new program for teens gives 13-15 year olds the opportunity to gain valuable job training experience while having fun and keeping busy throughout the year by becoming YMCA teen assistant swim instructors. Teen assistants should have strong swimming skills and a desire to work with children.
Teens will be placed with experienced instructors and learn the ropes of teaching swim lessons, as well as developing positive self esteem and mature social interaction skills. They will receive help and be evaluated at the end of the session, as part of the learning and improvement process. Schedules will be flexible upon teen availability.
In future years, as the teens become old enough, they will be ready for employment by the YMCA or other organizations which provide swim lessons.
